Web conferencing integration
Current status: organizing online resources, formulating a list of module requirements
Description
The Dimdim module will integrate the Dimdim web conferencing product with Drupal. Dimdim conferencing is available as a hosted service from Dimdim at three levels (Free, Pro, and Enterprise) as well as through an Open Source Community edition which may be run independently of Dimdim's servers. The Dimdim module aims to integrate with Dimdim conferencing by allowing for the creation, management, listing, and 'launch' of conferences via Drupal. Dimdim offers the following conferencing features:
- Easily share your screen
- Audio & video conferencing
- Present PowerPoint and PDFs
- Private & public chat
- Whiteboard & annotations
- No software to install to host/join conferences
- Record and embed conferences
More information on Dimdim's features is available here.

You can conduct online meetings with the same in-person features available to you as when you are holding the GoToMeeting presentation in front of a live audience. In a conference room, when comparing GoToMeeting vs DimDim, you might use a white board or chalkboard to demonstrate specific information. With GoToMeeting you use your computer to draw, highlight and point to items of interest on the screen.

There's now a Dimdim module available on d.o. - http://drupal.org/project/dimdim ; Looks like it's very much under development, but possibly something we could use and improve. @Aaron - what do you think about installing it on the Dojo site and seeing if it works?

Hie I have recently came through this dimdim module and have seen that the module deployed in Drupal site is SaaS hosted.Do you think if there is any way we can create a server on localhost and create our own online web conferencing API module for Drupal which has almost all the features which dimdim offers..I am planning to work in this aspect. Your suggestions will be valuable to me..

Implementing dimdim has been on the backburner and based on some issues with the both the platform and module (http://drupal.org/project/dimdim), I recommend we consider other solutions to integrate. One potential solution already has a Drupal module in development.
